About

Originally born in Buffalo, New York on January 29th, 1988, Brandon Christopher Kisker has lived in Cincinnati nearly his entire life, but still finds a deep connection with the city of Buffalo. He is a long time hockey fan and has played hockey since the age of two.

Brandon was a member of the Mason City School District from Kindergarten all the way through the 12th grade. After graduation in 2006, he attended the State University of New York at Buffalo in Amherst, New York. After attending for a semester, Brandon felt that he wasn’t reaching his full potential and decided to transfer to the University of Cincinnati where he has remained ever since Spring Quarter of 2007.

As an Electronic Media major, Brandon joined the university’s radio station, Bearcast in Winter 2008. He has spent his time as a broadcaster and producer for Bearcats hockey, soccer, baseball, and women’s basketball teams as well as co-hosting “The Five Minute Major”, an all talk hockey show. In addition, he became the Assistant Sports Director in 2009, and then became the General Manager in 2010 where he lead a team that implemented many new improvements to the station, including reliable mp3 streams and a content driven website.

Brandon became the official voice of the Bearcats hockey team in 2009, calling every home game and traveling with the team. He serves not only as the voice of the Bearcats, but also as the Director of New Media, coding, designing, and managing the teams website. It was during his three years with the club that he decided hockey play-by-play was what he wanted to do.My Explorer Pose on top of a Mountain (Eagles Nest)

In Summer 2010, Brandon participated in the Munich Summer Curriculum, a 10-week, 15 credit hour study abroad program with three of those hours dedicated to interning at a German media company. Brandon interned at VerbaVoice, a company comprised of nearly all hard-of-hearing or deaf people, designing promotional flyers and helping translate websites and documents into English.

A soon to be graduating Senior, Brandon is currently searching for other potential internships and opportunities in professional hockey. Eventually, he hopes to work his way up from minor league hockey to working someday as the voice of a National Hockey League team.

As of July 2011, Brandon was offered and accepted an internship with the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning.  He now resides oddly enough in Brandon, Florida outside of Tampa where he works closely with the Lightning Radio Network’s Matt Sammon, Dave Mishkin, and Phil Esposito.  He produces daily features for Lightning Radio Affiliates and for social media as well as assisting on game day by gathering opposing team sound-bites and coordinating intermission interviews.  He was subcontracted to work for the Winnipeg Jets on October 29th and February 2nd.
